Daily routine

A four-step protocol for lenses and hinges

01

Rinse the lenses

Wash lenses under lukewarm water before touching them. This lifts grit that would otherwise scratch the coating when wiped.

02

Dry with microfibre

Use a clean microfibre cloth in a single gentle pass. Avoid tissues, shirt hems, and paper towels, which leave fibres or abrade the surface.

03

Store in a rigid case

Keep the pair in a hard case, lenses facing up, away from the dashboard. Excess cabin heat can warp acetate and degrade anti-reflective layers.

04

Stabilize the hinge screws

Apply a small amount of thread-locking compound to hinge screws and check them periodically. This prevents barrel wobble and keeps the temples aligned.

Repair and lifespan

Know when to adjust at home and when to see a professional

Minor hinge tension can be corrected with a small screwdriver and a gentle hand. Lens misalignment, bent frame geometry, or stripped hardware call for an optician or a qualified repair service. Replacing a worn screw is often simpler than it looks, but forcing a damaged thread usually makes the repair more costly.

A well-maintained pair can remain comfortable and optically reliable for many years. Keep notes on what you service and when, so you can judge whether a repair is worth making.
